AD MELIORA: For a Better Tomorrow

“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.”

Albert Einstein

From time to time in human history there occur events of truly seismic significance, events that mark a turning point between one epoch and the next, when one orthodoxy is overthrown and another takes its place. The significance of these events is rarely apparent as they unfold: it becomes clear only in retrospect, when observed from a commanding height of history. By such time it is often too late to act to shape the course of such events and their effects on the day-to-day working lives of men and women and the families they support.

Barely a decade into the new millennium, and there is a sense that we are living through just such a time. The agent for this change is what we now call the global financial crisis. In the space of just 18 months, this crisis has become one of the greatest assaults on global economic stability to have occurred in three quarters of a century.

This does not mean that the times are bad, they are challenging.

MIB and MHROD, Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, bring Einstein’s words to practice through ERUDITION’09 our 14th Annual Convention and the 2nd International Convention.

This year’s theme “Ad Meliora – For a Better Tomorrow” has been chosen to highlight this worldwide phenomenon and its changing dynamics; to identify our mistakes, learn from them; and make a stronger and a better tomorrow. Ad Meliora when literally translated into English means “for better”.

ERUDITION’09 seeks to provide a platform to visionaries and thought leaders to share their ideas, experiences and perspectives on the changing factors shaping the way we do business.
