Prologue

The evening of 9th Sep at Asiad Towers Banquet Complex saw the ‘once in a year special’ of MIB and MHROD, the Reminiscence ’06 - the Annual Alumni Meet. The reason that makes this evening special is that it not only gives the ‘alumni’ a chance to take a look into the past, to find a younger self in the current batches but it also extends an opportunity to the current batches to have a peep into their futures and to find an inspiration in a wiser self. It was an opportune occasion for the alumni to take a cheerful walk down the memory lane and at the same time, for the current students to foresee where their future roads lead. And for once, these two opposites in time did not conflict to create an imbalance and disparity but in contrast, created a present so alive and delightful that everyone wished it was not just ‘Once in a year special’.

Alumni Meet is probably the most anticipated event on the MIB calendar. The reason being, this event is not just a platform for interaction for the students and the ex-students; it is a meeting ground for the PGDIM and MIB ‘diaspora’ too; a time to catch up with old friends, make new ones, share the memories of the past, talk about the accomplishments of the present and weigh up the possibilities of future. But for a change, all in a relaxed backdrop of a nostalgic atmosphere.

The Event

The evening took off with all ex- students arriving and surprising their old buddies- some seemed to have grown moustaches, some have gained a few extra pounds over the years while many looked just the same.

The event started at around 9’o clock with the Alumni Committees of both the courses addressing the audience. This was followed by brief speeches by the faculty, which included Dr. A. K. Seth, Prof. Shri Ram Khanna and Dr. A. K. Singh. The inspirational words of Dr. Seth, the interesting comments of Prof. Khanna and encouraging words from Dr. A. K. Singh made the efforts of the students behind the event worthwhile.

The launch of the all-new MIB website by Dr. A.K Seth followed. Later, a vivacious line up of cultural programs including dance performances, plays and music numbers filled the air with loud cheers and applause from every corner of the arena. This was followed by the dinner session.

As the evening progressed, many alumni came forward and offered contributions to the FCBAF - Faculty of Commerce and Business Alumni Foundation. The organization is coming up with a new website which should be ready in a few days. All alumni are requested to register on the site once it is ready.

The event ended in its true spirit of nostalgia and a promise to reunite and keep this community strong.

Epilogue

They say the bird of a ship always finds a way to return to it...and ‘Alumni Dinner’ is one such event that lends a fitting corroboration to this statement. It is proved time and again, as the alumni from PGDIM and MIB batches always manage to find a way to revisit their alma mater by accepting the invitations and taking time out from their busy schedules and showing up in encouraging numbers to events such as this, held by the department. Their involvement, interest and will to ‘fly back to their ship’ again and again contribute to make these events a big success year after year and it’s highly appreciated.
